Meranti is a lightweight hardwood with a subtle natural grain that complements models without distracting, with natural colour ranging from pale pink to reddish-brown. Because Meranti is lightweight and easy to carve, these plinths allow for smooth shaping and sanding, making it ideal for custom bases.

Timber Finish
This plinth is finished with a matte liquid beeswax mix, which will protect the timber as you are working but will not prevent painting or shaping. As the beeswax sets and soaks into the wood, you may notice some irregularities developing. A light application of any timber oil, beeswax or varnish will restore the colour and shine to these areas.
